Gelatin is used for the growth and development of the hoof, in much the same way as in human fingernails. Gatco Gelatin recommended feed rate is 4 ounces (113 grams) per day per 1,000 pounds of body weight. Gatco branded gelatins contain no fat or tryptophane and it is 100% pure gelatin with no fillers. Physical & Chemical Properties The gelatin molecule is made up of amino acids joined together by amide linkages in a long molecular chain. There are 18 different amino acids in gelatin, each occurring on its own level and sequence in the molecule. Gelatin Gelatin is a protein derived from collagen, which is the major structural component in skin, bones, tendons and other fibrous tissues. Gelatin, minus the moisture and a small amount of mineral salt is 100% pure soluble protein. Its digestibility is excellent. Studies have shown that a feed rate of 4 ounces (113 grams) per day (4 scoops) can significantly improve the growth rate and strength of your horse's hoof and it also promotes hair growth. Gelatin Shelf Life If gelatin is stored in a tightly sealed poly-lined container in normal indoor conditions, it will remain stable indefinitely. The only exception would be if the gelatin is kept in a heat above (45°C) 133° F with relative humidity above 60%. In this extreme scenario, the gelatin will gradually lose its ability to swell and dissolve. This product is intended for horse use only. It is Feed grade material. Not for Human consumption.
