Identification and Information
Gelatin is a product obtained by the partial hydrolysis of a collagen derived from the skin, white connective tissues and bones of animals. It is not considered to be hazardous under Federal Hazard Communications Standard (29CFR 1910-1200). Gelatin Innovations' gelatin is food grade. Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS).

Physical/Chemical Characteristics
Gelatin is a light, straw-colored powder. Gelatin dissolves readily in hot water and is insoluble in cold water forming a clear, light amber solution. Gelatin powder will begin to decompose above 100ºC. Complete combustion will occur above 500ºC.

Fire and Explosion Hazard Data
Gelatin is considered non-flammable. In the event of a fire, any standard agents can be used, such as water, foam, alcohol foam, CO2 and dry chemicals.

Reactivity Hazard Data
Gelatin is stable and not subject to hazardous polymerization. Gelatin is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.

Health Hazard Data
Gelatin is not toxic or irritating. There is no risk from ingestion, inhalation or contact with skin or eyes.

Control and Protective Measures
No special clothing or equipment is required when working with Gelatin Innovations' gelatin. Wear cotton gloves if desired.

Precautions for Safe Handling/Leak Procedures
Sweep up any spills. No special disposal methods are needed. Keep away from excessive heat and contact with water.
